ING Marathon, Atlanta

Yesterday I ran the ING Marathon in Atlanta and it was fantastic!  26.2 miles through all of Atlanta and Decatur.  The trees were blooming, neighborhoods had signs up, and the weather was nice and cool.  For those in Atlanta this means it was raining / drizzling all morning, but that is usually the case unless it is sweltering and humid.

My goal for the marathon was under 5 hours, and up to mile 19 I was having a great easy run.  That was until I saw the clock say 3 hours at mile 19, and thought ‘heck I can run 7.2 miles in 1 hour).  At that point I picked it up and progressively got faster till the very end.  Came in at exactly 3:59:00!!

Great run and I look forward to new adventures in the future – maybe an ultramarathon ..
